CB1 is associated with a psychoactive effect that is activated by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CB2 is associated with anti-inflammatory and is expressed in body cells controlling immune function. How is the endocannabinoid system linked to hair health? There was an independent case study conducted that found CB1 receptors are well expressed in hair follicle cells. ECS, CBD, and Hair Growth
Androgenic alopecia or AGA is the most common cause of hair loss in baldness in men and women as they age. With AGA, there is an elongation that occurs with the hair shaft that hair follicles are attached to in the scalp. With the increase of the elongation of the hair shaft, the hair follicle becomes brittle and dies. A case study was conducted with 35 participants who suffered hair loss due to androgenic alopecia (AGA). These 35 participants used a topical hemp oil once daily for six months. The hemp oil formulation averaged about 3-4 grams of CBD. The results were measured based on the area of greatest hair loss experienced by all participants. The results were nothing less than amazing! All participants had some hair regrowth and on average there was a statistically significant 93.5% increase in hair after six month. There were no adverse side effects reported. The case study supports significant hair regrowth benefits in both men and women with AGA who used CBD rich hemp extract.
